The… <a href="https://nwprr.net/video/moving-the-sp-2472-after-reinstalling-the-main-rods"><br /> <img src="https://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/8199514867?profile=original&amp;width=240&amp;height=180" width="240" height="180" alt="Thumbnail" /><br /> </a><br />(pardon the terrible cellphone quality)<br /> On Wednesday November, 18th 2020, the Golden Gate Railroad Museum along with the NWP pulled the Southern Pacific 2472 out of the Victory Station Yard in Schellville, California and across 8th street to a location where we could reinstall the piston and eccentric rods (and a few others) as well as remove the air tanks. The rods had been off the locomotive since before it was moved from Niles Canyon to Schellville so this was a major part in brining it back to steam. The air reservoir tanks were removed as part of the annual inspection required by the FRA on all operating steam locomotives. Also, the hissing sound you hear coming from the locomotive is air being drawn in and of the cylinders by the movement of the pistons. If you look closely, you can see condensation being expelled. Credit goes out to all the hard working volunteers the GGRM and to the NWP for making this happen.
