Thanks, Jerry. Several members were discussing CCT 42 on one of Tim Hallman's photos.

Jerry, quick question-did Eureka Southern ever use CCT 42?

Jerry, I love your photos! Thank you for sharing them (along with your stories working for the Eureka Southern).

I've been an NWP fan for something like 35 years, but mostly of the south end, below Novato.  Lately I've been "exploring" the north end using Google Earth and via great pictures like yours of the Eel River Cyn.  That route looks stunningly beautiful!  I would love to hike the whole length of that canyon and camp along the RoW some summer.

You posted some great pictures.  Would love to see more if you have them, even of yards or other ES facilities.  Looks like you had some decent length trains -- in the day.

Happy New Year!

Hi Jerry,

I see you are in Willits .... me too. I am the Yardmaster at this time. That mostly involves security and minor repair. I also am an employee of the Cal-west, so I am able to get out on the line occasionally.

Jerry, jpg images are definitely a supported format and should just upload automatically, like gif, png, and a couple other image formats. If you want you can mail the image to and I can look at the binary source to see if there's any corruption or the like. But in general, if you can see the image in a browser or other image viewing application, it should upload to this network with no problems.

And the "Eureka Southern" album you created for the image above is perfect (album names are completely your choice when uploading your own images, and you can add them to existing albums if they seem a good fit). In the description of your photos you may wish to add that you were the photographer, just so other members know the true source of those images (but only if you like, of course). Regards,

Mark D.

I really have hundreds of photos in the Eel River Canyon. Because from reading all the history I could find I knew there were few photos deep in the canyon. I will not post them all, it would get to be boring after a while. I will stick to the better photos. In the ES days our schedule was so lax that stopping to take a few photos was just sort of part of the day. We also took anyone that wanted to ride with us, so there should be a number of photos in the Canyon out there. We got to the point were we had "Kodak Photo" spots for time of day or season for the best shots.

Should there be a special spot for ES photos? I will add one and let you put it were you want it and then I can just add from there.

Jerry, I would really like to see any and all images you have of the ES and other northern California roads. Please feel free to add as many as you like to this network -- I assure you they will be most welcome (I'm especially interested in images of the Eel River Canyon). Regards,

Mark D.

Welcome to the NWP Network, Jerry! Please take a look around and let me know if you have any questions or comments. I'm adding content daily and have just begun recruiting new members, with the hope that we'll have a viable and interesting community on the the network soon. Please feel free to invite your own friends if you think they may be interested. Regards,
