Woodman Creek Tunnel

Went on a survey to the Woodman area. Wow, what an incredible spot. Do you have more pictures of this area? I'd like to see them. Thanks!

Compare this photo with one I posted a while ago for which I didn't know the location. Between the two Sean Mitchell photos, I think we can be sure that my posted photo, snagged on line from a rafting site, is Woodman Creek.

If anyone would know, it would be Jerry Kitts. He is the member that posted all the great photos of Eureka Southern trains in the canyon. He was an engineer on the RR. He and his son have Foothill Model Works. This is the link to their web site: foothillmodelworks.com.

I'm still thinking about what those marks might mean, but I find it amazingly coincidental that John Hill indicates that all his photos were shot on July 1st, or 07-01, 1985.

The "E" probably means East, as there's a shot with a "W", probably indicating West.

A sequential numbering of tunnels would make sense, but it appears that at least two different tunnels bear the same nomenclature.  I will now lie awake all night thinking about this.

There are EUKA fans on this site.  Chime-in if you know!

Thanks guys. I love both of those links. No pics of Woodman in service though.

Question- In the EUKA set, I noticed that every single concrete lined tunnel he shot shows a paint mark on the right side, about chest height. It says --

E

07

01

Any insight? Is that railroad east?

Interesting blog, hope to have time to read it all soon.  In the comments there is a link to some really cool Eureka Southern photos by John Hill:

Unfortunately, rrpicturearchives.net seems to be very slow and inconvenient to use.  If anyone knows how to contact Mr. Hill please request that he come over here to re-post those photos onto a much more user-friendly platform.

I stumbled upon a photo essay/blog from a few years ago that has some pictures. The tunnel was passable, though the one portal was nearly caved in:
