Yes, the east side of this tunnel, which was once double-tracked, is now open for pedestrians and bicycles, no auto traffic or motorized bikes.  SMART is supposed to go on the west side (right side in the photo above).  See my other photo for a better view of the future RoW.

 

The plan was to close the gates to this tunnel each night from around midnight to 05:00 AM to discourage homeless from camping inside.  Don't know the exact hours or whether they are still doing that.

Dave, I take it that this side of the tunnel is just for bikes/pedestrians, not cars? Is SMART supposed to go on the other side of the tunnel?
