Can anyone tell me about this lapel pin?

Today I was preparing to give my Mom's costume jewelry to my neighbor for her art projects when I came across this pin that belonged to my father.

I wonder if this is something all NWP employess had or if there was some occasion associated with it. Do they still give these out? Is it of any value?

I would imagine he missed a little time? But if he worked for them alot of years, he probably had 10 or more years "unbroken" time accident free during his tenure with NWP. Someone on this site that was an employee must have a better answer than mine

He was Maintenance of Way.  The only accident he was involved in was when a rail was dropped on his foot.  I got sick just looking at it.

Jack  What department was your father in? I have one my father had that looks very similar, and he received it for 10 years accident free  in mechanical department
