The 844 Big Boy will be in Sacramento Sept 29 & 30

All you railfans headsup! The UP will be having a celebration Sept 29 & 30 in Old Sacramento.

Among other things the 844 Big Boy is supposed to be there.

844 is not the Big Boy.

Yep, its the Challenger. Sorry dealing with a plane crash outside my house last night, 4 adults and a young girl burned to death and we couldn't get them out. Brain isn't on track again, yet. :-(

UP 844 is a 4-8-4 northern locomotive. The 844 is the only steam locomotive in America to have never been retired by a class one railroad

damn, that sucks. If you see the family offer my condolences.

They were all from Fresno there is a short 31 sec video on You Tube, under Lake Tahoe Plane crash, fireball was about 100 ft tall.  The local air show had just ended about 5 hrs before also, but they weren't part of it. Second plane crash we've had in 26 years in the meadow on our end of the airport. I heard that one but didn't see it.
