Three Way SMART Train Meet In Petaluma | 2-18-2017

I went over to Caulfield lane to catch 103 and 108 southbound expecting a high speed pass but they stopped short of the crossing. A few minuets later, 104 and 101 came around the corner but also stopped. Right after 104 and 101 arrived, I heard a third horn. Sure enough, a third set, 105 and 106, came into view and stopped in front of 104 and 101. Within minuets of each other, all three DMU sets headed back north making for great video opportinity.

Thanks Chad!

I completely forgot about the return of American Airlines.

I hadn heard about United beginning service, that's awesome!

Not to mention that American now flies to Phoenix daily and starting in June United will be going to SFO daily.  starting to turn into more than a regional airport.  Most flights are full except for the weekends.

SRB, the Sonoma County Airport is served by both Alaska Airlines to Seattle, Portland,LAX, and San Diego daily as well as Aliegent air to Las Vegas and Phoenix. smart should start service sometime in April 2017.

If you've ever been stuck in the Novato narrows at rush hour you'll be willing to try any transit that avoids that mess..  The cities in Sonoma county that will be served by Smart at start up have about 250,000 people combined. The airport is a regional facility with runways large enough to support medium to large jet airliners, just not jumbos, yet. We live in a vibrant, growing area with lots of tourism and industry.

Please remember that  even though agriculture is our biggest industry here, we are not just a bunch of cow towns.

I believe that SMART and the NWP are the keys to sustainable future growth here in the north bay and north coast region.

Yes, indeed he did get a rise out of someone. It is not only  LaLaLand that didn't get that award, Let's be aware of  award being given, Oscar.

My legit question still stands unanswered, " When will SMART trains start operation?" Furthermore will enough people ride it to make it a reasonable alternative to US 101?  Especially considering that does not initially serve the Larkspur Ferry Terminal; also it serves the Santa Rosa airport. How many folks does that airport serve?  Any scheduled airlines using it?  Now it would be nice if there was a medium sized airport in that area. People would not have to get to either SFO or OAK to flee Bay Area to maybe Oklahoma City or Tulsa.   Thank You.  Will see you  all when SMART decides to open its doors to the world of railfans and  commuters.   Ciao

Bell:

On this w-site we seem to be happy to not post re: politics except to benefit the renovation and renewal of the trains running on the old NWP line now for smart and NWP freight.

Go post somewhere else if you don't want to align with the rest of us to benefit our members.

When may I come to San Rafael and catch a train?  I was in Italy this past week and caught a chicken Caccotori.  Need to catch a Smart train and see how fast it rolls. By the timetable posted doesn't seem as train will capture much of the 101 traffic. Could be a gigantic waste of taxpayer dollars. I should let
Trump know so he can rid California of this tax wasting scheme.

Besides there should be NO funds for transit; local regional, statewide or national

Let's form a group to eliminate all funding for all transit systems.

Better the funds go to build larger stadiums for professional sports teams.

Let us also take away funding for all airports. Let the airlines build and maintain said facilities.

So when does revenue service now due to begin on SMART. I assume that they have solved the problems with the trains that delayed start of service.   It will be known as  START SMART,  the 'SS day that is not in Nazi Germany. Amen or rather gramatically correct  A man.   Thanks for the applause of one hand clapping as I do not knead clap--so to speak  softly but carry a big smile.

Within minuets of each other? Was this a dance in a European court?  The minuet is a highly stylized dance popular in the 17th or 18th century.  Now we have the minuet introduced by SMART for the benefit of  North Bay Area.
