Now that I live in the west side of Santa Rosa I sometimes hear a diesel horn at night. Seems too late for SMART. Is that NWP freight?

Hi Bob and good to hear from you.  I can't hear any noise from Petaluma as I am now in the west county but up on a hill west of SR.

FYI I attended a FrIends of SMART meeting last week.  Have you heard of them?

As you may remember I am focused on getting the line rebuilt over the R River.  But SMART is a long way from doing that and I'm not sensing that FoS is either.  With Williams now passed will Bosco push or divest?

I read somewhere recently, perhaps a Petaluma PD notice, that there will be maintenance work on one (or some?) of the crossings in Petaluma to coordinate city traffic lights with grade crossing signals and this will necessitate flagmen and horns for about a month.

I kinda suspected that but hoped not.  in all of my life I have lived within hearing distance of RR tracks.  My earliest memory is hearing one of the last runs of a Grand Trunk Western steamer headed down to Detroit.

FYI I was in Schellville last month and heard the horn on 2009 while it was crossing Hiway 12 with 10 hoppers and it still resonates.

Actually I hear it as well. Most likely a semi truck with a train horn.
