Jordan, it wasn't just Misters Bell and Brand who suffered Karl's verbal barbs over the past month -- perhaps you missed the status added by Dave S., to which Karl reacted so voluminously and, in so doing, angered no less than 5-6 additional members, all of whom contacted me privately to complain. If anyone else on the network is behaving even half so testily I'm not hearing about it. Quite frankly, I became tired of replying to all the private complaints and I gave Karl at least 3-4 warnings before the suspension. Again, most of Karl's contributions were very good but he just couldn't refrain from picking on other members -- it's really that simple.
That said, I don't have time these days to read all the content and comments on this network and I very well may miss slights and insults on the part of others. If this is a chronic issue with one or more individuals please make me aware of it and I will investigate and mete out suspensions as needed.
Thanks for the explanation, but that still doesn't explain why Karl was banned yet Brand and Bell are still here doing as they please. As I said previously, I've heard zero bad things about Karl/Tommy from the absent members and A LOT of complaints about Brand and Bell.
While I don't necessarily agree with Karl's viewpoint that Brand and Bell are the same individual, his fixation on the matter has, if anything, exposed what appears to be contrasting principles in play here. Brand has been harassing members who discuss things he doesn't want to hear for quite some time, and Bell has been spamming nearly every pixel of this site with absurd comments for months on end now. Karl makes a few posts over the course of a week calling the two of them out and gets banned. Am I the only one who thinks there's something wrong here?
I'm with Mr. Glover. Ever since grammar school, I've loved watching a good fight, but I satisfy that urge on FaceBook these days. While I have little to offer, I check this forum daily and find I usually learn something of interest, so it's worth my while. Thanks to everybody who posts and to Mark. The "news feed" of article of interest is one of my favorites!
The same situation seems to be going on with other forums as well. I'd prefer just learning about railroads than reading peoples political views and personal attacks on others. Things seem to be getting out of control but then again I'm a lover not a fighter.
Bring back the NWP/SMART/modeling talk and leave your personal feelings aside. If someone post what you feel to be incorrect information there is a nice way to voice your opinion which has been what has happened in the past.
We are all here to share and learn so lets get back to it.
Thanks for the clarification Mark. I had no idea any of this was going on. All I knew about it (based on what I had seen prior) was that Steven Bell is a troll that is only here to spread nonsense. I have not had any issues with Richard Brand. It's mostly Bell that has put a sour note on posting stuff here for me. I appreciate you taking the time to explain the reasoning.
Karl was suspended because two-three days ago he added two comments to a post which included images implying, once again, that Mr. Brand and Mr. Bell are one and the same, despite my repeated requests that he stop doing that very thing. I have no idea if Mr. Brand and Mr. Bell are the same person but Karl simply couldn't let that go, seemed almost fixated on it, and would lash out even when Brand/Bell were not interacting directly with Karl on the network, far as I could tell. I, too, appreciated Karl's photos and updates but he clearly had "issues" with other network users and I got very tired of fielding complaints about some (not all) of his comments.
I'll follow up with Richard Brand privately to inquire about his relationship, if any, with Mr. Bell, but let me be clear that no one should have more than one account on the network. And at some point I may reinstate Karl, assuming he's still interested, but given all the grief seen hereon over the past couple months (grief caused by just a few members, it must be said) I begin to wonder if the network hasn't outlived its usefulness, especially given we now have the excellent Facebook NWPRRHS page, as one alternative. Regards,
I don't quite understand the logic here, but it's not my group to administrate. As for my posting, I've been kinda quiet as far as material goes, but that's mostly because I've had my sights set elsewhere for a while. Though having Brand and Bell running around on here does make posting all the less enjoyable.
Jordan, your comments are right on the money. Karl/TT has been one of the most prolific and interesting contributors on this site. Its a shame he's gone.
