Dedicated to Sharing the Heritage of Redwood Empire Railroading
Hi to all: Been working security @ night the past 3 days, so, have not been able to check messages. Glad to hear from all of you.
In my 50 plus years of being around rr tracks and even when I was a kid living next to the Sacramento Northern and the main line for Southern Pacific, I have never seen anyone get busted for walking the tracks anywhere and with the NWP tracks here now, I don't think anyone would say anything about a few guys walking (mostly in plain view of the highways) taking pictures or just walking.
Also, as far as trouble with homeless and others, I'm a licensed Security Guard and have a license to carry a sidearm and I would probably carry one of my smaller caliber weapons with me on this kind of walk, especially in certain areas. More from varmites than anything else. I deal with these types of people at all hours at night in Eureka, so, they don't worry me. Anyway, I figure that sometime around the end of March would be a pretty good time to go on the first little jaunt, maybe sooner if the weather settles down more. If you would be a little worried about me carrying a weapon, let me know. I can adjust.
Thanks for all for wanting to take this walk with history.
