Looks like SMART wants to end the NWP freight operations over the tank car issue. Now what?

As I mentioned in another post, I fear SMART's management isn't completely familiar with all the ramifications of operating a railroad connected to the national rail system which handles freight traffic under FRA regulations.  I highly doubt the FRA permits local regulation of hazmat traffic on the national rail system, but I'll leave  that to SMART's lawyers to make money looking it up.  I'm not sure why NCRA ever cut the deal to give SMART everything south of Healdsburg all the way to Lombard when all SMART had for openers was south of the Ignacio Wye (IIRC,) but I suppose they had good reason.  At the end of the day, though, when SMART gets around to running past Headsburg on the NCRA ROW, well, as they say, "payback can be a real pain."

I heard 1501 in Petaluma on Thursday so im not sure that SMART will end all operations. At least for now.
