Dedicated to Sharing the Heritage of Redwood Empire Railroading
Our two favorite Railfans were out today, first let me make in known this PLACE IS NOT TO HARRASS OR SAY ANYTHING NEGITIVE ABOUT THESE GENTALMEN. Post something mean, I will delete your comment.
These two guys were out today, claiming to work for the railroad. This as far as we know is not the case. One did get into an argument with some railfans and some of their kids. A SMART worker lost it and became very irate against him, claiming he worked for neither railroad. There was no physical fight, however it came close. It seems to me these guys are not dangerous, but lack basic social skills, and it is extremely important to understand that.
We need to have someone watch over these gentlemen or have them checked through both railroads or something.
What is hitting me hardest is that they are claiming to work for, and are authorized, through both the railroad and law enforcement. They are not. They however believe they are railroad police, and will let you know that. The irony of this is that they were yelling at people to get off of the tracks while standing in the middle of the mainline. Most of these people were just children, young children with their parents putting pennies on the track. Both NWP and SMART employees were not having a problem with these people.
How do we deal with these guys? It is importaint to understand that mentaly disabled persons often lack basic social skills that you and I are using at this very moment. If you find yourself upset with them, like many of us at the yard became today, we must take in a couple of deep breaths and take a walk around. We are all here for the exact same reason; to watch the trains. They express themselves in a different way than you and I do.
The situation at the depot became scary at some points, especially when the one gentleman became extremely mad at some kids putting pennies on the track, and then got into a yelling argument with the father and then some other guys watching the train. SMART and NWP officials were pretty chill and laid back about everybody who was here, except for the one SMART worker who lost it with our two favorites.
I just wanted to give my report Reporting semi-live from the Santa Rosa Depot,
