Comment by B Richards on January 5, 2012 at 7:39am Sounds like a very interesting picture. I'll make it a point to stop by the next time I'm in the area.
Comment by James Marklinger on January 3, 2012 at 12:46pm If you want to see a very cool - and big! - photo of what San Rafael looked like in the late 50's, stop by the San Rafael City Hall - 1400 Fifth Avenue - btw 830-5 M-F. On the wall toward the Admin offices is a wall-sized photo of San Rafael, with all the railroad facilities there at the time. While the detail is not great, it's still a nice period piece of San Rafael.
I just hope they don't decide it's out of date and toss it!

Hey B.
Great photos, is the video available somewhere? Back in the early 1970's I worked at the old Ross General Hospital. I used to take Sir Francis Drake Blvd to get there. Little did I know SFD Blvd was the old NPCRR ROW out to Point Reyes Station. Actually never even thought about it then. I had an Aunt that used to tell about driving into San Rafael in a horse and buggy from Tomales.
