I have interest in the history of the Northwestern Pacific Railroad starting with the construction time frame, the companies that built the lines north, a timeline of construction to each town, and history of the people that built and ran the early railroad. I am in Windsor and a member of the Windsor Historical Society and interested in stories and photos of the era for a possible display for the museum. My request is a little direction for gathering information that would give me a story of the Redwood Railroad that came to Windsor.

Thanks for accepting me into your group, I have always read all that I could find about railroad logging and I have a number of books related to logging in the western California (the Sierra Railroad in Tuolumne County). Hope to hear from you.

This site should get you started: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northwestern_Pacific_Railroad  (Google is your friend.)  As you follow this forum, you'll find many references to railroad historical societies, including the Northwestern Pacific Railroad Historical Society, which are repositories and resources for NWP railroading history.  A visit to the wonderful Petaluma Trolley Museum is well worth your while, as well.  There you will be able to connect with folks who have "hands-on" experience restoring old NWP rolling stock and preserving other historical artifacts from the NWPRR. http://www.petalumatrolley.org/
