So far I have only noticed grain hoppers coming thru Petaluma. Have they halted business to Standard structures in Windsor? The bonded warehouse off of McDowell has a side track as well as Mcphails …Continue

"I haven't seen hide nor hair of a train since the middle of March.  Is track work preventing them from running?  As far a I can see new roadbed has been installed thru Petaluma."

"I don't know about SMART hiring their own employees. Most commuter agencies prefer to contract out operations. Looking at the west coast, we have: BNSF operating Sounder Portland and Western operating WES (A good example of a freight shortline…"

"SMART can't run excursion trains, in their enabling legislation it clearly says that NCRA is responsible for excursion trains."

"Also JB, SMART is their own operator, will be hiring their own employees, and will be running their own railroad. It is unlike the NWP, who leases the line from the NCRA. Think of it as two divisions, the NWP handles all freight, and SMART handles…"

"I would just like to point out that California Northern has a MASSIVE wine reload warehouse in American Canyon. They forward literally thousands of boxcars of wine a year to the UP. And yes, they do ship them by rail bottled. CFNR says they carry…"

Where's the freight?

I don't see any freight hauls other than the grain loads.  Are they able to deliver anything else anywhere on the line.  With the Dairy Farmers in tough straights the need for grain may soon diminish.

Sunday running?

Seems like NWP runs at anytime now.  Yesterday, they came by about four PM during the Super Bowl game.  I've seen or heard them on other days other than M,W, and F as well.  Yet other than grain hoppers and a wood car I don't see much other business. I hope they have a few Novato customers.

1922

Where was 1922 stored?  I know they had a derelict located behind Petaluma station.  I don't know where it went too after it was used for police training.  But 1922 seems to have just appeared.  Was that kept at Shelville?
