Northern Line under attack

Friends, The northern section of the ROW is under attack from the Rails to Trails folks. Particularly, the 101 corridor between Arcata and Eureka. They seem to have scraped the idea of "Trails with Rails". They are rallying support and have the funding. The trail has begun construction in the Arcata Marsh and they are going to proceed south. They are pushing for "Rail-Banking" the ROW, which we all know will the death knell for the line around Humboldt… Continue

Thad, please, please contact me. I am about to submit an article to Railroad Model Craftsman about the TPL flatcars. I also want to provide a car for you and for Mike Kellogg. The frames for the cars are now available and they make great cars. This project couldn't have been done without the photo and dimensions that you and Mike provided. You can contact me through the NWP system, privately.

Hey, Thad, I was wondering, if THA gets to run all around Humboldt Bay, would they ever want to expand down to Fortuna/Alton, heck, even Scotia (if the ROW EVER gets what it deserves)? Maybe Scotia's a pipe dream, but Fortuna and Alton only have overgroth stopping trains, the ROW seems to be in pretty good shape.

Be safe up on those ladders! Even that can be satisfying if not fun. For me it looks to be a day in the horse barn trying to stay warm. High temps for the next few days is 34!

Thad, how I envy you a work day at the roundhouse. I'll have to settle for working on the Ohio NWP!

I've ordered materials for what I hope will work as a master for the frame for the TPL mill flats. If I am successful I'll offer resin frames to the group. Your photos and measurements are invaluable!

Any chance you could measure the length of TPL #5? I'm going to try to put one together.

Thank you for all your help and your work for THA!
