"Can't decide which of these three is my favorite photo.  All very crisp and sharp. This one has the edge in my mind:  The oak looks like it is about to drape over and envelop the approaching train. Great composition!"

Southern Pacific Placerville Turn May 1969

"Consider these photos an adjunct to Richard Todd's fine images of the last run on the SP's Placerville Turn.  This was a typical Placerville Turn in the 1960's and early 1970's.  Two as yet un-rebuilt SD9's and…"

Western Pacific S Scale locomotives

"No NWP content, but a little modeling project for display/discussion.  The HO folks have it easy as both of these locos exist in HO brass, but for S scale I had to bash existing brass locos to create Western Pacific steamers.  The #201 is…"

Amador Central RR: Dec. 27, 1969

"Just south of the CP&LT was a similar California shortline, the Amador Central RR .  It, too, used a 44 tonner and mostly hauled finished lumber from the mill at Martell to the SP connection at Ione, CA. Similar scenery to the CP&LT but…"

Other end of the NWP: Napa Jct.

I've posted three pictures of Napa Junction from August of 1966.  SD-7 #2736 is newly "patched" and renumbered from #5329.  This engine worked The Redwood and many freights on the NWP and is boiler equipped even at this late date.  I've also included a close-up of the nose so modelers can see the front end detail and the Mars light attachment detail.

I'll post two pics of Schellville shortly.

Hi Bob, we have often wondered where you were? What are you doing?
We are still in Oakland on thackeray right above your old home on Pelham. We are retired, enjoying life. Our three sons are married and we have five grandchildren too keep us busy!
Our email is cevoni@vonibsch.com. Cathy and Ernie

Robert, the photos you contribute are so outstanding and interesting I just want to feature all of them!  You might consider creating an album the next time you upload images so I can feature the album rather than individual images (though don't feel like you have to -- we'll take the photos any way we can get them!).  Thank you so much for your contributions!  Regards,

Mark D.
