Historic rail line question

I was just up in northern Marin Cty and noticed an old and very abondoned RoW running thru Pt Reyes Station and up along the Tomales Bay and at least up to Tomales.

Was this line just built by Hollywood and Hitchcock to support his movie "The Birds"?  I'm joking but what was it called and what was it built to haul?  Lumber, dairy or fish?

Love to hear the story and the name because I noticed a bridge with rails still exists over Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

"Rotaries" on KQED TV

Not specific to NWP but if you have not already seen the show on KQED TV, this is a must see.  It is the story of the last outing of the Roseville based 1929 vintage SP/UP rotary snowplows on Donner Summit during the 2011 heavy snow storms.  It is a 60 minute show and it is wonderful including the sound of the plow's steam whistles plus the engine sounds of the F7's that provide the electrical power for the rotary blades.

Brought up the hair on the back of my neck.

Hello Richard,

Keith left the network yesterday (deleted his account) so the situation appears to have resolved itself.  He was more interested in a site with strictly factual and historical content, if I understood his complaints correctly, and was regrettably unable to ignore content which did not meet his standards.  Much as I hate to lose members who are clearly interested in the NWP, as he surely was, it was likely for the best that he did leave (for his own peace or mind, if nothing more).

Thanks for your understanding and patience in the matter, and here's to more peaceful days ahead!  Regards,

Mark D.
