I was reading this article about the UP leaving caltrain. I personally think that if it could turn a profit, NWP would be a great operator. What do you think?…Continue

"Nick: This is complicated due to the Cal High Speed Rail project. The at-grade crossings have to be changed to over or under due to a couple of things that will increase train frequency on the Caltrain RoW where there have been an excessive number…"

"The one thing I don't understand on this article is why change the grade? Tracks are already in place. I'll have to check with my Caltrain connections to find out the reasoning  behind this."

"Steven - I think it will be delayed another 6 months... but only after they open the thing up to public service for a month.... wouldn't that be a kick in the balls."

Eureka at it Again

https://lostcoastoutpost.com/2017/may/10/eureka-slaps-north-coast-railroad-authority-18000/After reading the article, it seems that the city of Eureka is trying to clean up the town and is now targeting the railroad. I personally think blaming the problem on the railroad is the wrong answer. Being a former resident of the county, humboldt county's problem will not go away by attacking the…See More

"Bob, thanks for the reminder:  I need to spray Roundup on my hillside and around my home this weekend, a chore that has been delayed by the long rainy season.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate on Saturday."

Healdsburg Switches

"I think the story went, that NWP stole the switch parts in 2011 for the opening of operations to make a switch in Santa Rosa work. SMART allowed it so long as they ordered the parts to replace the stolen parts in Healdsburg. Its documented in a 2011…"

Derailed Cars Near Spyrock

"You know what... now that I think of it, they could have wrecked and they moved them out of the "pool" as I call it (had a few) to keep them from being a hazard. They very well could have derailed and the NWP, SP, NCRA, EUKA (who ever)…"

Michael    I added to my status 2=24.  In response to your question, I had heard it during the Novato negotiations, then read it in the DEIR dated 2009 part 2.3.3.1 that is available on NCRA website. I have heard it since but I don't recall where.  I sure hope I am wrong as it makes no sense to not offer freight. I could see it in their efforts for the early startup, but after SMART finishes I would think it would be a no brainer.  I think there are a few potential customers still there.  I hope you find this message....
