Good Idea for NWP?

I was reading this article about the UP leaving caltrain. I personally think that if it could turn a profit, NWP would be a great operator. What do you think?…Continue

"You are correct, that the canyon was slapped with a 10 MPH limit. Some track limits do allow Passenger trains to run faster... NWP/EUKA I would say, between Arcata and Fortuna, would "very" their speed sometimes if they were running late.…"

"Great story! I have ridden the EURK Daylight and NCRA Daylights as a kid. However, as Jeff posted, I think the top speed was 25 and towards the end, that was top. I do want to say from experience, my dad (and I) used to volunteer on the forth of…"

"I agree with that! NCRA should have gotten enough to maintain the property and security of publicly owned land. Anything less than keeping the tracks to exempt standards just wasted the states money in the long run. The state bought a railroad and…"

Michael H Harrison replied to Richard Sotelo's discussion California SB-1029 has a better than 50/50 chance to pass this year
"What I am confused about is why we are dissolving a government agency to create one. I would think it would be easier and faster to redirect the current NCRA into an agency that is directed to support trails and future trail needs, for example…"

Michael    I added to my status 2=24.  In response to your question, I had heard it during the Novato negotiations, then read it in the DEIR dated 2009 part 2.3.3.1 that is available on NCRA website. I have heard it since but I don't recall where.  I sure hope I am wrong as it makes no sense to not offer freight. I could see it in their efforts for the early startup, but after SMART finishes I would think it would be a no brainer.  I think there are a few potential customers still there.  I hope you find this message....
