What Railroad Is This?

While scrolling through Google Maps, I stumbled upon this fairly lengthy private railroad near Santa Rosa.  The track appears to be either standard or narrow gauge, as it's too wide to be one of the…Continue

Crossing Construction Supplies - 8th Street (Sonoma)

While passing through Schellville today, I noticed several stacks of new railroad ties, several stacks of concrete crossing panels, and at least two new concrete gate bases.  These were all neatly…Continue

James Bradley, Jr. replied to Bob Cleek's discussion Is steam excursion service in the NWP's future?
"I don't know much about how contracts work, so this is just a question.  If SMART buys out the NWP contract when the NCRA is dissolved, are they still bound by the terms of that contract?  The agreement between SMART and NWP states…"

James Bradley, Jr. replied to Bob Cleek's discussion Is steam excursion service in the NWP's future?
"Thanks, Jeff.  I'm well aware of the GGRM move to Schellville, although I have my doubts about whether or not SMART will allow steam excursions on their tracks (the tracks in Schellville are owned and dispatched by SMART).  I would…"

James Bradley, Jr. replied to Bob Cleek's discussion Is steam excursion service in the NWP's future?
"There is no mention of "steam", or "NWP", anywhere in the comments.  Where did you draw that conclusion from?"

Richard Sotelo replied to James Bradley, Jr.'s discussion What Railroad Is This?
"  Yes this the one, although this narrow gauge not standard gauge. This engine and cars was owned by Ollie Johnson. This was the guy that was very influential to Walt Disney and encouraged him in Railroads. It was in a storage shed in San Diego…"

Bob Cleek replied to James Bradley, Jr.'s discussion What Railroad Is This?
"Is this the private hobby railroad that was created by Walt Disney's friend and/or employee years ago? I don't have my copy of the book handy, but there is a standard gauge private "layout" in Sonoma written up in the book on…"

Dave S. replied to James Bradley, Jr.'s discussion Crossing Construction Supplies - 8th Street (Sonoma)
"Here's the status of the GGRM site as of 2018-April, including photos of the 8th Street crossing and equipment.  (Making a mental note to get out there again and take new photos.) Re-activating that crossing makes sense as the GGRM will…"

Nico replied to James Bradley, Jr.'s discussion Crossing Construction Supplies - 8th Street (Sonoma)
"I would guess that they are for GGRM as they would need projection moving their equipment across 8th st. The current crossing looks pretty beat up. I wonder if this is contributing to the move delay."

James Bradley, Jr. replied to Richard C. Brand's discussion Hoppers sitting on the line
"That still doesn't answer where the ballast was going, or what it was for.  Construction or track maintenance?"

James Bradley, Jr. replied to Richard C. Brand's discussion Hoppers sitting on the line
"Would a Herzog hopper be able to go South of Igancio?  I thought the clearance with the platforms didn't allow for freight movements.  If there's a hopper with ballast in it, it's not for the track construction in San…"

James Bradley, Jr. commented on Dave S.'s status
"I took those photos almost 5 years ago.  There have been no changes to any of the crossings in those 5 years. I'm currently waiting for the new signals to be installed at the Healdsburg roundabout.  Once they're installed,…"

"Five years on, this crossing looks exactly the same (based on the current Google Street View, June 2016). Was this an example of Federal "shovel ready" Stimulus Spending?  Too bad those funds weren't put towards rehabilitating…"

The Majestic - 2001

"Dave...your arguments regarding the period accuracy are not 100% correct.  The locomotive that was used in the movie, CWR 65, is an ex Southern Pacific locomotive (3412).  A quick Google search shows that the locomotive was part of a…"
