Derailed Cars Near Spyrock

"Richard, You really are stretching it here. The SP wasn't as badly managed as you may think, and they provided me with the start of a fantastic 41 year career. A lot of the rolling stock was used the rip-rap to shore up the right of way. When…"

How did you learn about the NWPRR Network?
Link from a fellow railroader.
Favorite NWP locomotive or piece of rolling stock, if you have one?
The first SD-45's that made it to Eureka in 1971 were SP 8992 & SP 9043 I believe.

I spent my summers in Loleta from 1950 until 57. I visited often after that until I joined the Air Force in 1967. I did make several trips north after that. If you go to my page to my photos you can see photos I made starting in 1958, between Eureka and Scotia. The NWP folks alwats treated me and my train crazy friends nicely.

I'm sure the photos will stir some memories!

Fred, could you share when you worked the north end of the NWP? And in what capacity?

Loleta was my summer home for several years! I tried never to miss a train.
