Pretty sure the boxcar and caboose went with 3804, did not return.
Anybody know if the caboose and boxcar returned with 1922?

I will offer in more than 140 characters that I must have seen her as a part of a 3 loco consist pulling freight south on the line in the mid '80's.
At that time I was leasing one of my grape hauling trucks to a feed distribution business in downtown Ukiah and I would frequently have to drive from the Peninsula up along 101 to do maintenance on that truck. On one of trips in November I remember seeing a southbound freight with SP markings winding its way slowly along the Russian River RoW and one of those locos was probably 3804 already almost 40 years old.
Like a war horse this machine had done its work and was surely worn out. Any thoughts that a 1948 vintage 1500 HP diesel could still pull its weight is fantasy.
The salutation from L. K. Potts is a fitting tribute to an SP warhorse.

This seems to be one of the old derelicts. Is that correct?
I wonder how they got FRA approval to pull it onto the main line to get to Stockton.
Sebastian, can FRA grant a waiver to do this?
