NWP SD9 #4423 was the baloney in the NWP's locomotive sandwich for the October 6 excursion. This Caddie quit loading shortly after leaving Willits, forcing the train to climb Ridge Hill with only GP9 3844 and SD9 4324 working.

It's been a long time, but I'm pretty sure that California Northern rated the Ridge at 14 empties or 7 loads per sd9. SP did 16 and 8.

must be the GP9. Note the radiators don't protrude.

Mark, is that the GEEP or SD9 4324 that has the black rear end?
