Yes, the bridge and the tunnel are in fantastic condition!!! Only thing good in the eel river... When I did my capstone project for my Civil Engineering degree, I studied the canyon. The access to this is not advisable though unless you raft.  The roads are private.  I was in my companies rig on my way to Fortuna for a job when I decided to make a few stops to aid in my studies of the canyon... any who... the people left me alone because I was in a survey truck... but the road past the private homes is under the maintenance responsibility of the railroad... unless you have four wheel drive jeep or ranger, you may get down there, but returning is not going to happen... also there are a lot of over grown things, so the paint job may get some scratches... but yes, the bridge and tunnel are good!!

Nice shot of the Island Mountain bridge and southern tunnel portal. I've always wanted to see this in person!
