The Texas and Pacific hasn't operated since 1976, when it was merged into the Missouri Pacific. If you are talking about the black widow on the Texas State RR, it was never owned by the NWP. Same thing with the Willamette & Pacific 1801, no relation to the NWP.

The late 90's incarnation of the NWP had eight black widows; four SD9's and four GP9's. Their dispositions after being returned to the leasing firm OmniTRAX (OMLX) are as follows:

GP9 3825: to OMLX 3825, scrapped in 2004.

GP9 3840: to OMLX 3840. Sold to RailServe as RSSX 3840. Leased to Provident Energy in Canada. Repainted into RailServe yellow and black.

GP9 3844: Wrecked in 1997. Rusting away in Willits. Unit is in NWP black widow paint

GP9 3850: Wrecked in 1997. Rusting away in Willits. Unit is in NWP black widow paint.

SD9 4324: to OMLX 4324. Sold to Cargill as CRGX 100. Now works as a grain elevator switcher in Cheyenne Wells, CO. Still in NWP black widow paint.

SD9 4423: to OMLX 4423. Donated to the Pacific Locomotive Association. repainted into SP black widow paint and given its original number, SP 5472. In service on the Niles Canyon Railway, Fremont CA.

SD9 4327: to OMLX 4327. In service on the Great Western Railway of Colorado (RR is owned by OmniTRAX). Unit is still in full NWP black widow paint.

SD9 5305: to OMLX 5305. To Canon City and Royal Gorge 5305, repainted in quasi-Rio Grande black and orange. Scrapped in 2012.

Thought I saw a picture of one on the Texas and Pacific RR, but I can't find it.

Found a picture for Willamett & Pacific (no source info).  There is another picture on Trainweb.org.

Hi all. Love all the Black Widow diesels of the NWP rr. Pity it's all gone now.

Thanks
