Advising our Roots leadership that the SP 473 "combine" just acquired from PLA is not a combine but a Railway Post Office car. It's never been a combine nor carried revenue passengers. I love Roots, have been a longtime member, but too many strange errors are needlessly creeping into the Newsletter and Highline. Some peer-review of draft copy before articles go to print would be a wise move ahead.

This year's BBQ, like every years' was great. Riding the caboose, hearing the sounds and whistles. My kids loved it along with the live band. They do an incredible job!!!

PLA paid for the move of #7 to Niles for a two week special steam-up.
It should be back in Willits getting ready for the July party.

Paul, according to the following page, which you may have seen, #7 is (or was) owned by Chris Baldo, and was on loan to Roots, but there's no mention of it being loaned, leased, or sold to the PLA, so I'm not sure how it ended up in Niles Canyon:
