Emilo:

The Notice is just of an application for a federal FASTLANE grant for funds to repair the line.  So write your Texas Congressperson (I think you said you lived and ask them to approve the  "NSHFP-16- FASTLANE16 Grant ".   From my past observations Congresspeople from Texas are not supportive of spending federal funds, especially those going to California.   So we need your help from your state.

Also according to NWP's Jake Parks, if approved by the feds the grant would only cover about 50% of the cost of the repairs.   Where they would get the additional funding is the question.  Bake sales anyone?

Hey Mike, that is great news! Do you have any pictures of the repair work done to the line?

Some good news for getting more of the line open! This is from the business for the NCRA Meeting from April 13th-

E. CONDUCT OF BUSINESS 1. Consideration and Possible Approval of Resolution # 2016-02 Authorizing NCRA Executive Director and NCRA Director as signatories for all transactions related to Sale and Improvement of Ukiah Depot Property purchased by the Judicial Council of California

2. Consideration and Possible Approval of Notice of Intent to Submit Application for NSHFP-16- FASTLANE16 Grant Funding for Rail Repairs from Windsor to Cloverdale

Every step puts the line from Cloverdale to Ukiah, Redwood Valley and Wilits that much closer to reopening!

Isn't the tunnel just north of Cloverdale in need of major repairs? Caught fire and both portals are filled in I thought

Mike, any pictures?? Is this wash out repair near Squaw Rock? If so, that is huge news.

It's been so long since the line has see this TLC, it makes me feel better, and that much more anxious to see service start again to Mendocino County!

A minor washout was fixed, and a culvert redone, minor things, but it's nice to see them doing stuff.  There are some other issues along that portion, but nothing that can't easily be repaired.

What kind of repair work Mike?

Some observations from Mendocino County!

1. More track clearing has been going on in and around Ukiah.

2. On a trip to Santa Rosa on Februrary 2nd, NWP workers in safety vests
were walking and checking the tracks between the Sonoma/Mendocino County border and Hopland.

3. Some repair work to the portion of the line along the Russian River and across from US 101 has been done. South of Hopland to before the Sonoma County border.

It's been rarer than when I was a kid, but Willits proper usually gets a couple days of snow each year. When I'm not at college, I live up on Pine Mountain so we usually get a weeks worth of snow over the winter.
