I've been wondering how many actual locomotives are still lingering at points along the line. I suppose the term "roster" isn't exactly the proper term to use, but I would like to see a list of current locos on the line and who or what owns them. To my knowledge there are:

(2) active NWP units, obviously.

(5)? old locos sitting in Old Town Eureka. Owned by NCRA?

(?) units in Willits? Owned by ??? I don't count the units that belong to Roots.

(5 or 6)? units just south of Highway 121 in Schellville. Owned by NCRA?

Whatever happened to 3804 after they hauled her away? Owned by NCRA?

Any I'm missing any? Are there any that are hiding out in sheds in Eureka or elsewhere?

6 in Willits BUGX 4304 (SD9), CCT 42 (S1), CCT (RS1), NCR 3786 (GP9), NWP 3850 (GP9), NWP 3844(GP9)

Schellville Bessimere & Lake Erie F7A & F7B, SP 4451 (SD9) don't know the numbers of the others.

3804 is owned by the NWP and might be rebuilt in the future. The prime mover starts and idels but the locomotive doesn't move under it's own power. the locomotive was first moved to the Burdel sideing later to Schellville.

Thanks Mike. Great knowledge! Are the units in Willits in that chain-link fenced in area? Is that fenced in area associated with ROOTS at all or is it completely separate and owned by NCRA?

The Fences are seperate from roots, 4304, CCT 80, and NWP 3844 & 3850 are in one fenced area with a bunch of passenger and frieght cars (includeing the commuter cars), this fenced area is visible just to the left of the street if you are driveing to ROOTS. NCR 3786 and CCT 42 are in a seperate fenced area (like the one in Schellville about 1/2 mile north of the depot. See my photo http://nwprr.net/photo/ncr-3786-cct-42-1?context=user

SP 4347 and SP 4436 are also at Schellville.   Although not technically a locomotive anymore, a former Amtrak steam generator car that was rebuilt from an F3B and still in faded Phase 1 "headless arrow" paint is in Willits.

I can speak about the Eureka locos. CCT 70 (GP7) is owned by NCRA. NCRA 2872 (GP9E) is owned by BUGX, and is still in full SP paint, albeit covered in graffiti. NCRA 3190 (GP9E) is owned by BUGX, and was a passenger unit at one point. NCRA 3779 (GP9E) and NCRA 3857 (GP9E) are owned by BUGX. No other locos are north of Willits, to the best of my knowledge, except those owned by THA, and that's where my knowledge ends right now. I could post a link to their site if you want it.

I believe, please don't quote me on this, that the poor, dilapidated locos in Eureka are privately owned.  They will need to be dealt with soon as the Marina project begins to move forward.  I am told they beyond repair and need to be scraped.

Yes, 4 of 5 are owned by BUGX. BUGX has a yard in Turlock with a bunch of parts engines, so these will probably be trucked down there, maybe in pieces. NCRA still owns CCT 70, though, and I've heard that the Marina Center will leave a double track ROW, so those engines really aren't in the way. They'll probably be removed as "eyesores" though. :-(

So Zachary, what exactly is BUGX? A leasing company? I get absolutely nothing when I google it.

http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locoList.aspx?id=BUGX Yes, a leasing company. They do or did lease 1922 to NWP, but NWP may own it now. Not sure on that. And it's Munson, not Monson as in the link above.
