I know this is very much a futuristic topic, but I am thinking about connectivity issues with tbe SMART passenger train.

Living in Santa Rosa, I have been trying to think up ways to board each of the two Amtrak long distance trains, in Northern Calif., the Coast Starlight and the Califorinia Zephyr.  I do not like the idea of travelling to Martinez or Davis, to board those trains, and leave my car parked in either of the respective Amtrak parking lots or a  near-by parking garage. This is especially true with trips of a week or more.  I know there is a bus connection, from Santa Rosa to Martinez, but that would make for a long wait in the Martinez Amtrak station in the case of the Coast Starlight (gets in at 10:54 PM, northbound, if it isn't late).

In the old days, the Calif. Northern RR provided a run from Suisun/Fairfield across to Schellviille on up the NWP to Eureka.

I know the SMART train will travel from Larkspur to Cloverdale. Knowing there is a freight branch over to Schellville, has there been any thoughts about a passenger link to Schellville and then over to either Fairfield (no current Amtrak stop) or., perhaps, to Martinez or Davis for a connection with the 2 long distance Amtrak trains?
