If you remember my discussion the other day about CFNR 501, I found it moving cars around in a shed that looks like an actual CFNR facility in American Canyon. There was an office building on the site as well. It is at the dead end of Napa Junction Road on the east side of Highway 29. But don't confuse it with South Napa Junction Road which also crosses 29 just to the south. I just looked at Google maps and the office building and the shed are not on the site at the time the Google satellite images were taken. Like I said I could be wrong because I always thought their yard was somewhere near Davis or Woodland and that they just travelled to Napa County across Jameson Canyon. When I used to work in Woodland I saw #112 and 113 moving through town all day long. So maybe they have a station over there and now the one in AmCan. Hope that helps. I'm sure there are others that know way more than I do. I would like to investigate more into the CFNR because I've always wondered how far south into Vallejo they go. Do they still cross the bridge to Mare Island? I used to live in Chico and work in Willows and they had a spur that went west off the north/south I-5 line to a Johns-Mansville insulation factory. They would deliver box cars of these little glass balls the size of golf balls and the plant melts and spins them into insulation batts which I assume would get shipped out on the return trip. Good luck on your railfanning. Be sure to post your photos. Let me know what you find out.
