More SMART planning events are coming up. They are calling it a "Strategic Plan Update" process. All are free Zoom meetings, from 6pm to 7pm.

You'll see that, as Richard mentioned, the one on Freight Services is on Wednesday, March 27.

Hello Everyone!

As you all know, on the main page of this website there's a slide-show of a selection of photos that members have submitted. Occasionally (very rarely now) this selection of photos will change, but in the very distant past the selection would change much more frequently, like every week. Don't know if this is a manual process (by Mark) or a function of site activity which is much less now than in the early 2000's. I'm guessing that this slide show only…

I'm guessing that this slide show only changes about twice a year now, if that.

BTW: I don't know how others feel, but there are a couple of photos in this selection which I don't need to see ever again, and this includes one of my photos! I wish there was a way we could vote on removing or keeping individual photos on this recirculating slide-show.

If you click the Photos button on the top menu, there is a section at the top of the Photos page labeled Featured Photos. However, the photos in the Main page slide-show are not appearing in this section.

In any event, I'm trying to find the original submission of the following photo which is part of the current Main page slide-show:

Can anyone provide a link to the photo page for the above image? I want to read the comments, if any, as I'm trying to find the location where this was shot.

Long ago if you clicked on a slide-show image it would take you directly to the page where it was posted. That hasn't worked for me in years, so I'm stumped with regards to getting to the source of this picture.

Anyone have any clues?

Thank you!

Can anyone walk me through “NWP” operations at H&B? Take me through an average night.. what comes in goes where, what are they switching out? Oh, and can you explain it to me like I’m 5?

Just curious if it’s enough to support a very small layout for switching ops. Building track plans for a future house, and seeing what might work well.

I've long had questions on why the decline of NWP passenger service was as severe as it was. Even SP, with infamous cutbacks in service such as the "Niland Daylight" or the automat cars, still provided Class I standard service if just barely. I'll break down my thoughts into several questions:

-When and why did trains stop terminating at Sausalito, when SP, WP, and ATSF kept their Oakland stations in place and used buses to SF instead of ferries?

-When and why did trains stop terminating at Sausalito, when SP, WP, and ATSF kept their Oakland stations in place and used buses to SF instead of ferries?

-At what point did NWP come to the same conclusion as parent SP did in regards to passenger trains?

-When and why was Willits chosen as the southern terminus of the Redwood?

-Was the route slower than taking the highway from Willits to Eureka?

-Did the introduction of SP #10 allow the train to at least break even?

-Was there any consideration for an Amtrak route, as the Redwood last ran the day before Amtrak?
