Dedicated to Sharing the Heritage of Redwood Empire Railroading
NWPRR Historical Society member and author Angelo Figone will present a program on the "boom and bust years" of the Redwood Empire's "Lifeline" railroad. His talk will feature highlights from his recently-released book chronicling the 50-year history of the NWPRR from 1951 until 2001. From the early decisions by owner Southern Pacific Railroad to invest in the railroad's infrastructure to the ongoing challenges of maintaining "the most costly railroad in the United States," Angelo will detail the efforts and rewards during the decades. The inclusion of oral history interview excerpts adds credibility to the narrative of events and will be featured during the talk. The opportunity to hear about an incredible enterprise and to see unique period photographs is not to be missed. Following the talk, the author and presenter will be available to sign books for those who wish to buy or bring their copies.
